Born in a French-Mexican family, I grew up in Cosautlán, a small town located among the beautiful coffee-growing region of Veracruz, Mexico. At the age of 10 I had my first personal adventure moving temporary to France. I moved from a colorful warm third-world-country reality to a cold, logical and disciplined first-world. Abruptly reality looked gigantic and puzzling. I was awakening to human contradiction and afterward metamorphosis had become my distinctiveness. This new way of perception was confusing and appealing. Experiencing cultural diversity, order and chaos, poverty and wealth, discipline and anarchy, guideline and mayhem, food, language.
When I was 17 years old I went to live in Paris working as an au pair and studying French. I reserved my free time to visit all the museums and art exhibitions. There was something calling me in every painting, sculpture, and photograph.
Back to Mexico I studied a bachelor’s degree in Communication at Universidad Iberoamericana. And then I went to live in New York for an internship working on the creation of a monthly magazine for non-profit civil and human rights organization.
Once I graduated from University I moved to Santa Fe New Mexico to work as Outreach Coordinator for Coffee Kids, a non-profit organization helping improve the quality of life for families living in coffee-growing regions.
After two years living in beautiful New Mexico I decided to go engage a photography adventure traveling through Northern India during three months.
In 2006 I went to Paris to continue my exploration through art and photography while working in graphic design projects. Back to Mexico in 2007 I worked as a photography teacher at the Universidad de Xalapa and I studied Illustration for children’s books at UNAM. From 2007 to 2010 I worked as Administrator and Liaison officer at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mexico. Following my curiosity and my desire to learn I moved to Barcelona, Spain in 2010, to study a Masters degree on Art Therapy. From 2011 to 2013 I worked at Pontas Literary and Film agency.
Since 2014 I combine my art exploration through painting and drawing with my work as art therapist in private consultation. In the last years I also have found deep inspiration and understanding through dance and movement, I have been practicing Yoga, butoh and Contact Improvisation dance.
I see my life as an endless exploration. Images allow me to journey to new realities, and they remind to dream, to imagine, to understand. Drawing and painting have trained me to be awake, and to appreciate that reality keeps in secret a playful and vibrant dimension.
Observation has been my way of understanding. While I observe the outside I learn who I am in the inside. Every new journey takes me not only to a physical location on the planet, but also to a location that is deep within my psyche. As if I was collecting pieces of myself through every single image captured with my eyes. Reorganizing a puzzle. Reconstructing my inner world.
